Choosing the right GPS tracker

General questions before purchasing

These answers apply to most Lil Tracker 4G GPS watches and pendants. Features can vary by model.

Which Lil Tracker device should I choose?

Kids GPS watches are designed around parent-managed calling, location tracking, and child-friendly features. Senior watches add caregiver-focused features such as auto-answer and fall alerts on supported models. GPS pendants are useful for someone who may prefer a simpler device worn around the neck or carried with them.

Does a Lil Tracker GPS device need a SIM card?

Yes. A 4G Lil Tracker GPS watch or pendant requires a compatible SIM card with active cellular service.

Mobile data is used for location updates and communication with the app. Voice service is also required for standard calls, SOS calls, auto-answer, and Remote Monitoring on devices that support those features.

U.S. customers can review our SpeedTalk Mobile SIM option. International customers can generally use a compatible SIM card from a major local carrier.

Are there monthly fees for the Lil Tracker GPS app?

Lil Tracker does not charge a separate monthly subscription fee for using the Lil Tracker GPS app.

The GPS device still requires an active SIM card and cellular service plan. The cost of that plan depends on the carrier and the services included.

Can more than one family member or caregiver use the app?

Yes. Multiple family members or caregivers can use the Lil Tracker GPS app and connect to the same device.

Each caregiver should create their own app account. If another caregiver cannot connect to the device, contact support and include the device registration code and a screenshot of the message shown in the app.

Does my phone need to use the same mobile carrier as the tracker?

No. The Lil Tracker has its own SIM card and cellular connection. Your phone can use a completely different mobile carrier.

You only need an internet connection on your phone to use the Lil Tracker GPS app.

Will a Lil Tracker work outside the United States?

Lil Tracker devices can often be used internationally with a compatible local SIM card, supported cellular network bands, and suitable coverage.

Network compatibility varies by country and carrier. Contact us before ordering if you would like us to review the intended country and mobile provider.

How accurate is the GPS location?

GPS is normally most accurate outdoors with a clear view of the sky. Buildings, indoor use, weak cellular coverage, and nearby obstructions can affect the location shown.

When GPS is unavailable, the device may use Wi-Fi or cellular tower positioning. These methods can provide an approximate location but may be less precise than outdoor GPS.

Are Lil Tracker watches and pendants waterproof?

Some models have IP67-rated water resistance, but they are not waterproof. They should not be used for swimming, bathing, showering, hot tubs, or prolonged water exposure.

Water resistance can also decrease through wear, impact, or damage. Review the specifications of the individual model before purchase.

Help with a device you already own

Try the steps below first. Device menus and available features can vary by model.

My device is showing offline
  1. Charge the device and restart it.
  2. Confirm that the SIM card and cellular plan are active.
  3. Move the device to an area with stronger cellular coverage.
  4. Wait several minutes and refresh the app.

A newly inserted or changed SIM card may also require the correct APN settings. Contact support with the mobile carrier name and a clear photo of the device status screen if it remains offline.

The app is not controlling the watch or pendant

First confirm that the device is online and connected to the cellular network. Also verify that the correct device registration code was added to the app.

If the device appears online but app commands do not work, send support a screenshot of the app, the registration code, and a photo of the device status screen.

The location shown in the app is inaccurate

Take the device outdoors with a clear view of the sky and leave it powered on for approximately 10 to 15 minutes. Then refresh the location in the app.

Indoor Wi-Fi or cellular tower locations can be much less precise than an outdoor GPS position.

Calling or SOS is not working

Standard calls and SOS calls require an active SIM plan that includes voice minutes. Data-only service is not sufficient.

Also confirm that the device has cellular signal and that the correct telephone numbers have been saved in the app.

The battery is not lasting as long as expected

Battery use is affected by cellular signal strength, GPS update frequency, calls, screen use, Wi-Fi, and other enabled features. Weak network coverage can cause the device to search continuously for service and use more power.

We recommend charging the device nightly. Contact support if battery performance changes suddenly or remains unusually short after a full charge.

How do I add another caregiver?

The additional caregiver should install the Lil Tracker GPS app and create their own account. They can then connect to the same device using its registration code.

If the device is already bound and the new caregiver cannot add it, contact support with the registration code and the email addresses used for both app accounts.

What should I include when contacting support?

Providing the following information helps us assist you more quickly:

  • Your order number or the email address used for the order
  • The device model and color
  • The SIM card carrier
  • The IMEI or registration code, when available
  • A photo of the device status screen
  • Screenshots of the app or any error message
  • A short description of what is happening
